Abraham Isaiah Judd

So, I have missed a few things, like Abbi's birthday, snowy days and other fun activities that hopefully I will update soon, but for now I just wanted to post some pictures of Abraham and announce his birth, just in case there was someone who hasn't seen him or heard the news. ( I also thought I could post the longest run-on sentence while I was at it too! Sorry) Anyways, Abraham Isaiah Judd was born at 3:54pm Friday, Dec. 14 2007. He weighed 7 lbs. 6.2 oz and was 20 inches long. I arrived at the hospital at 2:30 thanks to my mid-wife. Had I not had a routine visit at 2pm I would have had him at home. Which my mom is very thankful that I didn't considering she was the only one with me and the kids. Due to complications from the previous night, I did not realize that this was "real labor" This being my 3rd baby you think I would have figured it out. Oh well, better luck next time :)!

Our "Punk" Beds are Here!!

The kids are very excited about their new gift from Gramma and Pappa! Simeon thinks that it was "very special for Pappa and Gramma to bring me those punk beds!" He and Abbi enjoyed helping put the beds together as well as playing on them. And mommy enjoys all of the extra room:)!

How do you get one of those?

As the four of us were sitting at the lunch table yesterday, Simeon looked at Mark and asked, "How do you get one of those?" while pointing at me (Mommy). Mark and I looked at each other with confusion and wonder and asked some clarifying questions. "What do you mean?" I asked, "Get what?". Simeon then asked, "How do you get a mommy?" Now I am really wondering where he is going with this (surely not the birds and bees?!?). He looks at Mark and asks him directly, "How did you get a mommy?" Mark then clarified the question by asking Simeon if he meant "How did I get a wife?" and that was where he was going. Then Mark explained the process of being friends, to being "friends" to becoming husband and wife (just the basics). Then Simeon looked at Mark while patting my arm and said, "I want one like that." Mark said, "Like Mommy?" "Ya." I never thought my 3 year old son could make me blush like that....a sweet memory.

Country Pumpkins

This past week we took a trip to a local pumpkin patch. The kids enjoyed riding out to the pumpkin patch in a hay-filled wagon pulled by a tractor. Abbi found a "cute" white pumpkin that she wanted to "hold for a minute" and claimed as hers. Simeon looked the whole field over, checking every pumpkin to find just the right one. After a long hunt, he came out with a beautiful pumpkin just his size.

Gifts Anyone?

So this is just something that has been on my mind, so I thought I would share. Mark and I are trying to get things done early this year since our holidays are going to be busy with the baby coming. That means we are trying to plan how we will use our time and our money. In other words, we would like to have all our Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving :). The only problem is is coming up with gifts for certain people. I want our gifts to be meaningful and thoughtful but not wasteful. For some people I can think of 20 things I would love to buy them, but I am not sure if they already have it or maybe they have a greater need that I don't know about. Then there are those people who already have everything I could think of to buy them and then I end up buying them something useless. Anyways, all this to say that I want our gift buying to be meaningful but not done in vain. So if any of you have any wish lists on the web, such as Amazon or Walmart, please feel free to send them to me. This is not a guarantee that you will get what is on your list, but it will give me ideas and help me get to know you better.

Catching Up on Summer Part 1

So this summer has been very busy for our family. I will try to use mostly pictures to keep it interesting.

In May, Simeon turned 3. We had a bicycle themed birthday party which was his big birthday surprise. Everyone had a fun time except me (Jena) - I threw up the entire day and was on medicine during the party -medicine that knocked me out.

After Simeon's birthday we went to Lexington, KY for Mark's brother Ben's gratuation from UK.

The next weekend was Mother's Day.

For our 6th Anniversary this year, we decided to make a family weekend. We went to the Louisville Zoo with the kids and Gramma and Pappa Judd (Mark's parents) and Uncle Ben. We are not sure who was more excited about the trip, the kids or uncle Ben. Going to the Zoo probably was not the wisest thing to do during my first trimester of pregnancy. I threw up 4 times that day....however, the kids still had a great time and it was nice to have the extra help from the grandparents!

While in KY we also got a chance to visit Mark's grandparents in Beattyville. The kids had a great time there!

Another Addition

So I am sure that most of you already know, but if you don't, we are expecting another baby sometime around November. We do not know the due date yet but hopefully our ultra-sound on May 25 will give us some more information. So until then we will just have to wait.

It's Been a While

There have been many events since the last entry to blog about but just not enough time. So I will randomly choose some events here and there to update you on and fill in the blanks later.
The most recent of events is a whole week of sickness for our household. We have had many messy diapers and accidents, lots of vomiting, fevers, fatigue, and crankiness. However, through all of the sickness there have been a few highlights through the week. Abbi has now learned how to say "what's that" and "ucky." She has also learned "back" as in give it back, "mine," "ouch," and "help" just to name a few. I'm sure most of those are apparent as to the source of where she learned those few words. She is also doing a very good job of going to sleep without a fuss during nap time and bed time

Simeon has also given us a few highlights from the week. When he has a fever he gets a little "silly." Sometime during the night on Sunday, Simeon came and got in bed with us. He had a fever and didn't feel good so I just let him stay with us and didn't put him back in his own bed. A couple hours of later I awoke to a rousing rendition of "Good Monsters" by Jars of Clay. He sang the chorus through nine times, not once opening his eyes or sitting up. At the end of the ninth round there was complete silence. Simeon has had a rough week but the one thing that seems to bring a smile to his face is the "Good Monsters" song.
